former applications

Considering the importance of satellites in the today’s time it is of interest to improve their functionality. The satellites in orbit must correct their positions in certain time intervals, so it is necessary to optimize the engines fuel supply and further win pay load mass.

For additional adjustment of the satellite the fuel is carried along in a propellant refillable reservoir (PRR). PRRs have neither moving nor deforming parts, which makes them inherently reliable. The functionality is based on capillary forces and surface tension to control and/or deliver liquids. Important on this occasion is the time the fuel needs to reach the outlet. With the OST 1-4 series, which are counted to the propellant refillable reservoirs, several tests were accomplished at the ZARM.
