Research Interests

One of my primary interest was about the structure of thin massive discs. This research was mainly theoretical and centered on the self-gravitational potential of such discs, meaning the gravitational force produced by the disc itself. The structure and stability of these discs are generally due to the effect of a central source; however, in some systems the self-gravity force produced by the disc itself can be significant and important in the dynamical balance. This is the case for sufficiently massive and/or extended discs, present, for instance, in the first stage of the stellar formation. My following interest went to thick accretion discs which can be relevant to understand the central power sources in Active Galactic Nuclei or at the early stage of star formation. They can also be involved in the generation of bipolar outflows or jets. Thus, nowadays I am working on equilibrium configurations of charged perfect fluid of (self-gravitating) accretion discs in rotation embedded in a magnetic field. First studies have been done in the Newtonian regime and more recently in the General Relativity framework.
