| News

The University of Bremen awarded the title of professor to Cyprien Verseux thus recognizing his outstanding contributions for future sustainable long-term missions to Mars.

For six years, Cyprien Verseux has been leading the "Laboratory of Applied Space Microbiology" at ZARM. His team investigates the potential of biology for future sustainable long-term missions to Mars. His research is an essential component of the new Cluster of Excellence, "The Martian Mindset," and in April 2024 he was awarded the prestigious Starting Grant from the European Research Council. This led the University of Bremen to award him the title of professor, further recognizing his scientific excellence.
Marc Avila, Co-director of ZARM, is delighted to have another professor on the team. "As an astrobiologist, Cyprien is a fantastic addition to ZARM's scientific expertise and makes an important contribution to the international, cutting-edge research in Bremen - the City of Space."
Congratulations, Cyprien, on this outstanding achievement! 👏
