experiment objective

abstract

Ignition phenomena play an important role in many practical applications of combustion systems, where hydrocarbon fuels such as diesel oil and kerosene are burned. This is valid, for example, for lean prevaporized premixed combustion, a modern combustion technique of increasing importance. While autoignition is unwanted in premixing zones of stationary or aircraft gas turbines, it is desired that the fuel/air mixture ignites immediately after entering the combustion chamber. In addition, internal combustion (IC) engines, such as diesel and gasoline direct-injection engines have to control self-ignition phenomena to avoid knocking.
